Hi All,
I made the mistake doing a rebuild for my PiDP8I with a newer repo ... Bookworm.
In Oscar's quick install he suggests installing this library.
During this install, a rebuild of initramfs etc. in initiated.
This seems to have damaged the boot partition of the SDCard such that lots of files were missing.
Anyone else had this problem?
In the meanwhile, I note that this library at: https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland
is now archived and deprecated. I wonder if it is really required as now my install
is working fine.....

Regards, Ian.

Hi Ian,

Everybody is moving to trixie. Indeed trunk is now considering that baseline. However bookworm is the last version that supports 32 bit hardware and apps.  I am curious to know if the current trunk will build under bookworm.

I believe we used to install the raspberrypi-dev package to get BCM software that we stopped needing when we updated the gpio support to use pinctrl instead.

On a related note, I did a fresh install of Trunk onto a newly flashed Trixie uSim within the last couple of days, like Friday or Saturday. Everything worked perfectly. Just last night, however, I did it again for a different one of my PiDP-8/Is. Along the way, IIRC in cloning the Trunk repo, there was a message at the end about nuking the 6.script file because it had to do with ETOS and ETOS was no longer available due to potential licensing issues. The problem was that a little later on, I believe in the ./configure step, it crashed because it couldn't find a 6.script.in file. I got around it by making a copy of 5.script.in then renaming that copy as 6.boot.in in the .../pidp8i/trunk/boot folder.

So, it seems that either the requirement for the 6.script.in file needs to be removed from the ./configure step or some kind of dummy / filler 6.script.in file needs to be added back into .../pidp8i/trunk/boot folder.

I found and nuked a few more references.

Hi Bill,

I can confirm that the tip of trunk version builds fine using the initial setup from: PiDP-8 Quick Install
O/S: Rapbian Bookworm 32 bit using a Pi 3B
pi@book32:~/Downloads/PiDP8I/bin $ ./pidp8i-sim
PiDP-8/I pkg:vUNKNOWN [pinctrl I/O] [ils] [stdpcb] [gpio]
PDP-8 simulator Open SIMH V4.1-0 Current        git commit id: 7994e0a7  (is this correct?)
PiDP-8/I initial throttle = 1000000.000000 IPS
sim>
However, as above, 6.script is missing from the boot directory.....

0.script  7.script                 hello.script          run-v3d.script
1.script  ac-mq-blinker.script     hs-rim-loader.script  run-v3f.script
2.script  add.script               pep001.script         savestate.script
3.script  asr33-rim-loader.script  ratio.script          tss8.script
4.script  bit-rotate.script        run-ock.script
5.script  common.script            run.script

Regards, Ian.
