Relocating the SD card

I have given up on booting from a USB thumbdrive in favor of using a microSD->SD extension cable adapter:

It is a tight fit into the lower DB25 opening.  In fact, I had to file down the rough edges.  I think it is tight enough to not need epoxy or clamping.

As a result, I can backup or substitute the SD card without opening the case.

ETA:  It sticks out of the case about an inch.

  The mcirSD to SDcard slots are something I used on my MINC-23. I upgraded the CPU to a KDJ11-A< ADDED AN Emulex UC07 and a SCSI2SD card . To get the SDCARD access on the front (see photo), I made a silicon mold from a blank front panel, the cast an epoxy replica. Next I milled a hole for mounting the SDCARD holder and used polycaprolactone a low melting (~60C) plastic to hold the SDCARD slot in place. If someone would make a panel mount cable / adapter and I could work out the dimension of the strange alumni extrusions DEC used I could have a nice 3D printed version made to replace this not so pretty but highly functional version. Of course I did need a drive activity LED which is just above the slot which is right of the A/D module.

   Also, if anyone else is a MINC enthusiast the FEP/FRP package for RT-11 was recovered in Australia the year. We’re still looking for RT-11 DECnet and the FEP/FRP package for RSX11M.

I think 3D printing is the answer to a lot of these mounting problems.  Sure, something with a flange mount would be excellent and maybe something is out there but I sure didn't see it right off.  The fact that the adapter I used is a press fit into the DB25 opening (after filing the rough spots) is good enough for now.  There is about a 1/8" opening on both ends (plus the screw slots) but I can live with that.  After all, it's on the back of the cabinet - out of sight, out of mind.

I guess a clever designer would just replace the entire 'box' of the existing adapter with a new shell, keeping the ratchet mechanism.  That's a little above my pay grade.
