I am the co-founder and publisher of the RSTS Professional magazine from 1979 to 1985 when it became the VAX Professional. I also co-founded and published The DEC Professional.

I want to digitize and make availale all the RSTS Pros on-line. I am missing 1981, VOL 3 #2 and 1982 VOL 4  #2, #3, and #4.

If anyone has any of these, can I please borrow them to have them scanned?

Thanks for any help I can get.

Carl,
Sorry but I don't have any copies -- but I wanted to let you know that as a former RSTS manager (now retired) in the early 1980's, I would look forward to re-reading some of these articles.  Good luck with your project!

I wrote a few articles back in the day, for the VAX Professional. I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to contribute back then. I have Volume 4, #3 and 4.I'll be unavaialble for a couple weeks, if no one else turns up with them in the meantime, please let me know.

Further search shows that I have the other issues as well.

Mr. Marbach,

I've got a few back issues of the RSTS professional in print at home, specifically the issue where I had a couple short articles published when I was just out of high school. This was the start of a long and productive career which included working for Plessey Peripheral Systems, Digital/Compaq/HP/HPE, and led me to my current job that I plan to retire with.

I also have uploaded all of the back issues I could find on the BitSavers website, and a couple of other sources. I have the following issues:

V2#3, V3#1 - V3#4, V4#1-V4#4, V5#1-V5#3

Please let me know if you get the rest scanned, or come across better copies of any of them, as I would love to have the full collection of RSTS (and VAX) professional magazines!

Glad to see you in this group! This appears to be the most active PDP-11 forum available today, and I would recommend it to anyone with or without a PiDP11/70.

Hi Carl,

Have you had any success finding lost issues?  Or maybe they're already online and I'm behind the times?  Though googling a bit didn't bring up a full set anywhere.

Thanks!
Mike

When I search google on "internet archive RSTS Professional Magazine" I see several.  If you go to this link:
and then scroll to the bottom of the page you will see many, many that are archived there.

Thanks, Jon, and that's very true.  It was exciting news, however, when Carl hoped to scan the missing issues.  I suppose either they could not be found or other things of higher priority cropped up.   -Mike

Howdy,

Not sure if these are still needed, but from the list of missing, I have Volume 4, #2 and #4 (not #3) from 1982 and Volume 3, #2 from 1981.

Let me know if you still need them and we can figure something out (I have others from that time period, but it's not extensive)

Hi Carl,

It looks like the internet archive has what you want. Thanks for starting the publication, I used to read it often!

Hi all,

Two years ago Carl posted the note below but then disappeared.  I've had no luck contacting him directly and would very much enjoy reading the issues of "RSTS Professional" that are not currently online.  The ones I know of are at

 http://www.bitsavers.org/magazines/RSTS_Professional/

Do you have others that are not there?  If you are not able to scan them I will be happy to!  Please contact me offlist, if so.  If you're willing to make high quality scans of your copies, please share with bitsavers.org so that we can all revisit days gone by.

Many thanks,
Mike [90,34]

Thank you, Anton, this could be all of them prior to Vax Professional - many thanks!  -Mike...off to download. :-)
