I noticed that when I boot RSX11M+ in my PiDP-11 that there's a comment at the end of the boot messages, in the section about LAT Terminal configuration:

>; TT15: is HP7550 port 3 on DS21

I would like to know a little more about what that means.  I very briefly looked through the simh docs and I don't see anything about a HP7550 plotter device, which I guess is what this would be.  Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Chris Jordan

That has nothing to do with simh. Whoever created that RSX image put
that stuff in, and you need to ask that person.

Johnny,

Thanks, I did get a direct reply from that person, it was left as an example:

"That is a comment left from an old RSX system that used a reverse LAT connection to a DECterminal server 200 (named DS21) to set up it’s serial port 3 to TT15:on the RSX system which had a print queue to spool plots to a HP7550 8 pen plotter. I left it to provide an example of how that was done."

I remember in college carrying plotter pens and paper with me at all times, since the department provided HP plotters but not pens or paper.

It should be possible to attach a program to that which pretends it’s a plotter and dumps out vector files that Inkscape could read/print
