Hey everyone,

I created a script  for simplifying the set up of a Proxy ARP as suggested here https://groups.google.com/g/pidp-11/c/aIFONtn2z4A/m/CMM7puvdCAAJ by spending an afternoon testing and mashing up a bunch of solutions found all over github, blogs and stackexchange.

The script is meant to be used with the default Raspberry Pi OS and was tested on Lite version of release "bullseye".

Note: this script only takes care of setting up the Pi, afterwards you still need to attach the network interface by adding:
set xu enable
set xu type=deuna
attach xu tap:tap-simh0
sho xu
to /opt/pidp11/systems/211bsd/boot.ini and setting up you BSD system as described in the manual.

Overall it seems to work pretty well for me. Using a systemd service to create and bring up the tap interface and set up parprouted makes it a bit more resilient to the error I noticed with the previous solutions, where the connection would be dropped after a few minutes / hours of idling, but as always:
"This software is provided as-is without any express or implied warranties..." :)
eg.: make sure to make a back up of your SD in case something goes horribly wrong and you end up staring at "ssh: connect to host port 22: No route to host"  on your screen and no other choice but to reflash the SD card (like it most definitely did many-many times during the birth of this script).

Cheers!
Zoltan
