My PiDP-10 has been running TOPS-10 (7.04) for quite some time now.  Lights blinking happily.  Or at least so I thought.  I tried to telnet to the console and it did connect.  Even got the OPR prompt.  But I could type nothing.  Not sure why.  I exited telnet and then connected to the user (2020) port.  Same thing.  I did a top and saw things running.
pdpcontrol stop reported it was already stopped.   Weird.  I eventually had to reboot it as I could not figure out what was wrong.  Anyone else see this happen?  I should make some notes on what to look at next time if it happens.  TIA.

I saw something similar running ITS. Front panel was doing the correct things, but I couldn't even telnet in. Then I found I couldn't VNC to the rPi. Seems Linux was my issue, rebooted and all was well. My guess is that something in the TCP/IP stack on the Linux side died.

hi everyone - here's some possibly related discussion from last week - https://github.com/drforbin/decwar/discussions/42
and copypasta of the most relevant part of that -

raspi pidp-10 'temporary brain damage' - what we're seeing is the raspi pidp-10 combo occasionally misbehaving, blinking oddly, etc, including failing to build tops10 or decwar. using dec10test to 'clear the blinkers' or 'pulling the plug' is needed whenever things get sideways. after 'sufficient reset' things are fine again. basically the raspi pidp-10 has some kind of 'memory' or 'state' around what's happened to it recently, and it gets sideways over time. fine. nuke it from orbit.

has been on the radar since last fall - doesn't seem like any kind of show stopper or big deal - main interest is helping it be a nice experience when new people try utexas decwar:)

cheers,
noah
