Hi,

Some progress to report: this is the CNC-cut final prototype before it goes to the mold maker. But some checks need to be done still. Nevertheless:

Tomorrow I have to respin the PCBs for their new home. This will be my demo machine for a few VCF festivals :-)

Apparently, we are still on schedule for a July delivery of the production parts.

Kind regards,

Oscar.

Serial#0... wooah yes a beauty!

Fingers crossed Oscar sends me a limited edition HANDWRITTEN serial on mine (just for archival and reference purposes 😊)

Simply gorgeous. I will definitely be on the Proud Owner's list when it becomes available.

Very smooth lines there.  Somehow it reminds me of this old Lexus commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AktHnnA9QIM

Oscar,
Your zeal for perfection with the bezel and the front panels is again obvious in the photos. I’m looking forward to seeing the final units on display at a VCF.

I was curious, how wide is the PiDP-10?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Mark

Actually height as well would be really helpful... i think it was mentioned a while back that the width is 53cm...(?)

Yes, roughly 54x15x17cm. It is scale 2:3, like the PiDP-8 and 11. Even on that scale you end up with an injection mold of more than half a metre... which was the stumbling block for a long time.

I'm now respinning the PCBs to fit in the prototype case, and if all goes well things can go to manufacturing soon. Although this time, I've got the support from a professional product design company (the owner took a liking to retrocomputers), it is still a stressful thing, this injection molding. One mistake and you're stuffed, there are no guarantees in this field.

Kind regards,

Oscar.
