The PDP-10 Simulator Usage manual from Trailing Edge:

is dated 19-Feb-2016 and in my experience is not compatible with the version of SIMH in the PiDP-10. For example, the command (manual page 4)

SET CPU TOPS10

is not recognized. I can't seem to find any other versions using a web search.

It would be very useful to have a manual that does match the version of SIMH in the PiDP-10 so I could work out some challenges I am trying to overcome. Anyone know where I could find one?

Cheers,

As far as I know Bob's PDP10 emulator does not support PiDP10 panel. Not sure if it could be adapted. Note there is pdp10-ks which fully emulates a KS10 processor. And does display sort of on PiDP10 panel. Devices get different names RP become RPA, Tap is TUA I believe.

My problem is that I have a well-configured KI-10 (not KL-10) image of TOPS-10 that I built using the Blinkenbone emulator:

I'd like to try to get this running on the PiDP-10 as it claims to have a KI-10 CPU version. But when I try to run it, it hangs up. If I can get the manual for the version of SIMH that the PiDP-10 runs on I think I can work it all out. Without that, I'm just making random stabs in the dark.

So if anyone can point me at the SIMH PDP-10 Simulator Usage manual for what's running in the PiDP-10 it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe he got the image from me. I am not sure if Oscar generated the pdp10-ki image or not. You can build it by going to /opt/pidp10/src/pdp10 and doing:

  make PIDP10=1 pdp10-ki

This will make the blinked lights. The document for KI should be:

/opt/pidp10/src/doc/pdp10-ki.doc

Rich (or anyone),
Here's a small extract of my boot.pidp file for SIMH:

; configure two RP06 MASSBUS disk drives
set rpa0 rp06
att rpa0 dskb.dsk
set rpa1 rp06
att rpa1 dskc.dsk

boot rpa

The KI-10 SIMH manual says RP06s should be bootable but the

boot rpa

command seems to just immediately jump to PC = 000000 and then not go anywhere. The Run light is on, some bits get set in the Memory Address and Memory Data, but nothing ever happens beyond that. The Program Counter is stuck at 000000.

Is there some other procedure for booting a KI-10 using RP06 disks in SIMH?

Did you use my builder or your own. You need to install the boot record.

You want to RUN WIBOOT[10,7]
SELECT UNITS? NO

Rich,
I didn't use any builder. I just copied the disk image file(s) that I have running on RetroComp's Blinkenbone PDP-10:

onto my PiDP-10. The system disk boots up fine in Blinkenbone PDP-10, but doesn't boot  up under Oscar's PiDP-10 even though I tried to bring it up using the KI-10 simulator. Am I wrong in thinking that if it's a bootable RP06 under the Blinkenbone PDP-10 then the disk must have the boot record already?

Thanks,

Ok, now I got it. Blinkenbone PDP10 uses Bob's KS10 simulator. It should be bootable under pdp10-ks. With the boot command.

Rich,
Many thanks. It is up and running under the KS-10 simulator. I have to iron out a couple more small issues along the way but I'm on the air now. I really appreciate the help.
