Some had mentioned in another conversation (that I can't find right now) that these panels can be inserted after the rest of the console has been assembled. This is true, but when I tried I found that with the bottom panel in place the Game Controller connector was very hard to install. Similarly with the top panel installed I could not easily plug in the HDMI or power connector. So I just left mine off. Nothing to be done about it. No big deal to me, just wanted to mention it so others will know they should look out for the same issue.

I did two things. Extended the PI board with a GPIO extender and then added a 180 degree USB-C connector. See the following. Helped a lot, plus helps with the cooling, and no accidental touching the PiDP back board as well. Win Win and Win...

Should add, they also make 180, 90 (up/down) degree adapters for HDMI as well.
