All,

In case you are waiting for a PiDP-1, let me give you a small update. Some frustration will shine through :-)

We've only been able to send out a few kits per day. We want to check every LED in every kit, because a few people reported a dead LED in the kit. And for every one that we know of, there might be another we do not know of!

Because it is deeply frustrating to replace a bad LED (fortunately, we do add spares) we saw no better option than to just test each one before sending out a kit. But that takes time and you also can't do more than a few hundred LEDS per day before you start having dark thoughts about life.

The solution from next month on will be that I will add a little component tester in each kit. That is useful anyway.

We're deeply frustrated because after NINE weeks we are still waiting for the second batch of PiDP-1 PCBs to be delivered. So we could not even send out many more kits even if we wanted... JLCPCB took 7 weeks for manufacturing (that never happened before), then there was a problem with shipping them over -- and now that is solved, the shipping cost of the PCBs came out to $25 per kit. That's not shipping the kit to builders: it is receiving the PCBs from JLCPCB ourselves. That is an insane cost, twice what it used to be, but so be it.

Never mind, but we hope to ramp up PiDP-1 kit 'production' soon. And thank you for the kind words of support we got :-)

Sorry for all the troubles you've been having!

Any update on when pre-built units might be available? I expressed an interest in ordering two many months ago but never heard anything more?

Cheers

Mike

Hello Mike,
We are waiting for a new batch of pcbs but at the same time we are short of soldering personnel so my best estimate is mid december.

Oscar,

Any way to find out where on the wait list I might be for the full rack kit?
Haven’t seen any update and nothing that could have gone into tge spam folder.
Just wondering if it might get shipped before Christmas.

Have a great Day!
