Not a problem, just cosmetic. I now build with full warnings on, I'm slowly cleaning up the warnings, there were lots in the original code.

I didn't see this in testing, I'll try on a different machine starting from scratch. Stay tuned.

I no longer build and install that, it has multiple issues from the original version. The T30dpy version is much better, and also supports faster lightpen updates.

The icon is essentially dead, I don't even create it on an install now.

Ok, just did a full, clean, git clone and rebuild on a clean system. Not seeing the desktop icon issue. It might be a stale icon on your system, did you tell the install script to add the desktop icons?

As for the Type 30, yes, I missed removing the desktop icon, it is dead. I'll remove it from the install.

This brings up one question, do people actually still want the original Type 30? The sources are in the repo, I just don't automatically build them,

and I never use it any more, no SDL3 support, mouse doesn't work if it's resized, phosphor simulation is wrong, not configurable, etc.

I added the Type 30 p7sim build and icon hookup back in case someone really wants to use it.

However, testing it reminded me of why I wrote a completely new version, T30dpy. Type 30 is pretty crude in comparison, apologies to aap.

OK. Just seconds ago downloaded and rebuilt the pidp1-mods. Answered 'y' to all questions. 

AGAIN - when you use the 'pidp1 control' icon to start the newly built machine, you DO NOT get the pdip1 main screen as before. There was something that flashed past on the bash screen before the hardware started (lights on), but NO MAIN SCREEN.

I really do rely on this main screen (paper tape, white space, round video screen) and losing it is a major problem at the moment. Sorry to be 'that way', but given there has NEVER been a method provided by anyone to actually get this screen up (WHY????), it's loss in pidp control is major.

(now if someone would post the command-line command to get this main display to appear, I'd make my own icon like I did with HDMI off and HDMI on.)

Found it! I thought you were talking about the virtual panel, not the hardware panel. I missed a checkin, just do a git pull and run the install.sh again, yo should be all set.

Ok, something's gone wonky, and it's not from this latest update, seems something broke earlier but it was hidden, I'm tracking it down now.

Repo updated. To be safe, you should delete the current pdp1-mods and do a new sudo git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/wjenh/pidp1-mods.git 

although a pull should be ok. I've tested on x86 with the virtual panel with a pull and pi with the hardware panel with a full new checkout, both work correctly.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I clearly need a vacation.

Thank you Bill! Just downloaded (I always move the old pidp1-mods to a backup directory before starting) and have a script I built that always does the full git clone the same way every time. I then ran install.sh as user and answered all questions with 'y' (as always). When done I restarted the PiDP-1 and everything appears to work perfectly!
