Building rack version question on operator panel

I managed to put this in the PiDP11 group by mistake, so moving here where it belongs.

While starting to build my rack version of the PiDP1 kit, I discovered this 'notch' in the operator panel. I didn't notice it until starting the build today, but when the kit arrived I carefully unpacked everything and checked the packing for any small parts and there were no issues. I repacked everything after checking off against the parts list with lots of bubble wrap in several large boxes so nothing would be damaged.

Today I got out the operator panel pieces (again, no loose bits or anything broken off) and found this notch as shown in the photo while starting assembly. I am pretty confident it is a manufacturing issue and not caused by shipping or my storage.

Has anyone else found such an issue in their kits?

I take a look later today if my rack kit had this notch. But i can't remind that mine had this while i'am building the kit.
