If I’m in the UI, hit F7, select Blink-1.rim, then hit Read In on my pdp-1, I get blinken lights.

The docs state that I should be able to select sense: 000 001, and hit Read In. That does not seem to work.

I selected do not use usb for tapes when configuring the system.

Hi Charley,

I'm currently using the hardware rack version switches and blinkenlights for extremely small, hand assembled programs. I don't need MACRO at this point.

I have a different problem in that I've set up USB redirection for file load and save but have only ever manage to save one, zero byte length file. So not very useful. One of these days I'll go back to investigating this issue. I expect it has a RTFM solution.

For what it is worth this is my load for the Expensive Typewriter (ET) application:-
  1. Raspberry Pi power off.
  2. PiDP-1 Console's POWER  switch On. SINGLE STEP and SINGLE INST. switches Off.
  3. SENSE SWITCHES #1 and #6 On, all other SENSE SWITCHES Off.
  4. Raspberry Pi power on.
  5. SENSE SWITCHES #1 Off, #2 On, #6 Off.
  6. Press READ IN switch to load ET.
  7. After load completes system should respond by typing SSL2.
Regards,
Garry

you can also do in the terminal a pdp1control stop, set the switches, and a pdp1control start - a shutdown of the raspberry is not needed.

Hi,

They were my instructions for an ET cold start. Once your Raspberry Pi's OS is up and running then I use pdp1control stop/start options with switch settings.

The sense switches only set a tape to read in when the simulation is started. If you reboot your Raspberry Pi with the sense switches set it should load the tape and then Read In will load and start it. I've just checked and it's working for me so if that is what you're doing you may have an issue with your configuration. I'd try running install.sh again.

I had the same issue with zero length files. I was running the pdp1_usb_monitor program manually, not realising that it is started automatically with the simulation (if it is configured to). The two instances of the program were interfering with each other. Don't know if this helps but thought it might be worth mentioning.
