Here's an impressive bit of lore I learned.. the source for Peter's music program was lost. He just sat down and rewrote it from memory. In assembler, of course.

Incidentally, if you watch carefully you will see a difference between how the actual -1 works and pidp1 works regarding the tape reader. In order for the real reader to read, the reader switch at lower right needs to be on. In the pidp1 emulation, that switch seems to do nothing. The switch turns on the reader feed motor it seems.

This is indeed an inaccuracy we're aware of. the problem is that it's hard to get feedback on whether the motor is on or not in the simulation. and i think it would be confusing for the reader to not work when it's off. usually i'm all for super-duper accurate emulation but in this case, due to a lack of a physical tape reader, i'm really not sure.
