I am assuming you haven't read
http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-musictracker/wiki/FAQ#3

If that doesn't solve your problem, I might be able to help you better if you
told me the actual error message you get...

I did not read that, but I did not have Pidgin running when I installed the
plugin.
The error was:
"Error opening file for writing:

C:\Program Files\Pidgin\plugins\musictracker.dll

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, orr
Ignore to skip this file.
"
Choosing Ignore, it occurs again, except with wmpuice.dll.

What about the second sentence? Do you actually have pidgin installed at
C:\Program Files\Pidgin ?

You should check that the directory 'C:\Program Files\Pidgin\plugins' exists
and that you can write files to it.

Yes I do have Pidgin installed in C:\Program Files\Pidgin, and the plugins
folder does exist, as I have other plugins already installed and working.

Ok. and the second part of my question. Can you write files to that folder?

Do you get the UAC prompt when you try to run the musictracker installer? Or
have you turned them off?

Does running the musictracker installer with administrator privileges work
correctly?

Running with administrator privileges manages to get it to work. Thankyou
