Sorry for the delay(!) in responding.
I liked the icon, but didn't think it worked well as a desktop icon at smaller sizes. I currently use the final icon in the settings page for the app, but you're right I should also use it on the launchpad and sourceforge pages (and the website if I ever get round to making it!!). Alternatively, with a new name, how about a new icon? :D
