Minutes of PICPA-WR New BOD

Dear BOD,

Please review or comment details of our first meeting last June 26 if i missed something important. Our secretary is busy doing reconciliation of financial accountabilities for turnover to the new elected treasurer, so this is it.

To Mr. Allan,kindly forward this to Mr. Vic Basa for his reference.

1. Elected officials of PICPA-WR for the fiscal year July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015 are as follows except for President Elect and Sectoral Rep - Government Service as the board decided to continue nomination of prospective individual for these vacant positions during the scheduled next meeting.

President - Mr Tom Viado
VP Operations & Membership - Jose Mateos
VP Professional Development - Allan Zamora
Secretary - Lorenzo Diaz
Treasurer - Vic Basa
PRO - Diendo Dupal
Sectoral Representatives:
Public Practice - Rob Tarlit
Commerce & Industry - Janeth Hermida
Education - Ruperto Panim
Government Service - Vacant
President - Elect - Vacant

2. Turnover of financial accountabilities should be made by Lorenz to Vic the soonest time possible on or before July 10.

3. President Tom Viado called for another meeting on July 10, 2014 (Thursday) ,7pm at La Parilla to discuss in details about the upcoming 1st General Membership Meeting and to layout plans for income generating projects, which the board concurred to set this meeting on July 10.

4. The board was adjourned at 11:15pm.

a. School campaign for the accounting week - this is postponed until course campaign kickoff at Gems

4.       Theme – “Leap and Be Strong Against the Odds”

5.       Activities

a.       A) Eid Holidays – trip to Madain Saleh on July 28-30, 2014.  Email will be circulated.

 

b.      B) Accountancy Week (July 13-19, 2014) – campaign/symposium shall be held at GEMS International school for the students’ awareness of the Accountancy profession.  Lorenz will coordinate with the school principal for the appropriate date and time.

Note: Vacation of schools for the Eid holidays started last 15 July 2014.

 

c.       C) Scholarship program - secure the funds from Glen.  PICPA-WR members can submit/recommend candidates/deserving students from PUP and other schools.  Contact person in PUP is Zen Castro, Scholarhip Coordinator (+632 716 8980).  Funds shall be released on Oct 2014 (2^nd Semester).

 

d.      D)  PA Board Examination – there will be 9 examinees.  BODs will seek financial assistance from PICPA-WR past presidents to defray expenses (accommodation/transpo/fees) of the delegates.

e.      E)  Fund Raising Activities:

         i.      Arabic Language – Reading and writing. Tentative date is Nov 2014. Three 4-hour sessions, every Fridays. Fee is 300 SAR for the whole course. Resource speaker is Lou Bercasio.

         ii.      AFNA

         iii.      Excel seminar

         iv.      Caroling -

         v.      T-shirts – to be sold to PICPA members and friends

Note:  Reviewers’ fees will be deferred until funds are raised.

 

f.       F)  Membership campaign – roster of PICPA-WR members will be provided by Tom Viado and will be updated by Gani Mateos, VP Operations and Membership.  PICPA membership fee of SAR-100 for FY 2014-2015 shall be collected from all PICPA-WR members.  All PICPA-WR BODs must reinstate their PICPA membership.  Gani will inquire from PICPA HO if there is a membership fee amnesty.

 

g.       G)  Others –

        i.      New York convention – NCPACA convention to be held on Aug 29 – Sep 1, 2014 at the New York Marriott Downtown Hotel

       ii.      Qatar convention – 7^th Middle East Conference in Qatar to be held on October 17-18, 2014 (with a separate scheduled event on 16 Oct 2014) at Doha Marriott Qatar.
