Hello fellow techies ,

I am seeking to buy  an e-board. I do not have much money with me. I would like it to work with DGT Pi clock. Can anyone suggest a good solution to my problem. [ any information on websites or stores in the SFO area where I can make the purchase will be appreciated ]

I am not technical. I am just looking to buy something off the shelf and use it as an end user.

Maybe DGT centaur is a good option to consider. No accessories, no settings, just plug and play.

Giles's suggestion is great as the smartboard DGT is cheaper than the regular DGT board. 

Picochess is meant for enthusiasts who want to play with a great wooden board and various customizable engines including Lc0 (Leela Alpha zero). Thus, it's not the simplest technical option. Definitely go for the DGT Pi as its plug-and-play.

I am glad to see more folk from the SF bay area! Maybe one of these days we can finally have a SF bay area picochess meetup instead of just focused on Germany, France, or the UK .. :)

I think the best solution for U would be to buy the DGT Smartboard on its own. You can then connect it to a more powerful and more practical Android smartphone or tablet than the old fashioned DGT PI . Then, you can play for free with Chess for Android that respects all the rules of Fide, draw proposal, free WhitePawn and paid Acid Chess Grand Master. Appreciate your suggestion but it does not precisely answer my question. As advertised the DGT Pi supports play with multiple chess engines , supports online chess play and also serves as a chess clock. All I need is a chess board [and electronic chessmen] that would interact with the DGT Pi. 

The following is the most cost effective solution I have found so far on the internet. I'd be interested to know if anyone of you have worked with the DGT Pi and any other eboard.

The smart board is a more advanced version of the eboard [ as far as I know]. I am only seeking a primitive eboard not a smartboard so that I get to pay less.

My best solution I have seen [ I saw that it would work with the DGT Pi but it is not an eboard but a more advanced  smart board]

I own Revelation 2 Anniversary Edition, Dgt e-board bluetooth, Dgt Pi upgraded, Mephisto Chess Genius Exclusive. I like very much the chessboard Dgt Bluetooth, I used it with DGT PI  and my Smartphone with Chess for Android or Acid Chess Grand Master and now the all new WhitePawn . As I have no time to lose, so I prefer to connect my electronic chessboard to my smartphone with that moment Whitepawn or Chess for Android, it's definitely more convenient to use than the DGT Pi . The game analyse is very fast , set up a position very easier with the control screen. Many Grand Masters use this system with the Stockfish 14 NNUE, the use is very flexible. Good Luck !

I have used the Smart Board with the DGT Pi. Works fine. I believe the Smart Board is functionally the same as the lovely wooden boards, but is made of plastic just to reduce the cost.
