Here's a reminder of how to set up PicoChess so that it will send you, via email, the PGN file of your last game (automatic) and can also send you the latest picochess.log file (using the clock menu - i.e, DGTPi).
NOTE: the current Web interface menu (v4.3.2) does not have the 'Mail Log File' function. Perhaps Johan can add that or create an icon to download the picochess.log file similar to the Download PGN button.
These instructions are applicable to Google Mail (GMail). They may need altering if using a different mail server.
First, you will need to create an App Password in GMail. Here are the (modified) steps according to Gemini:
- Go to your Google Account Settings.
- Enable 2-Step Verification if it isn't already active.
- Search for App Passwords in the search bar.
- Give it a name (e.g., "PicoChess") and click Create.
- Copy the 16-character code provided. You will not be able to retrieve it later. Use this code in your picochess.ini file instead of your regular GMail password.
Edit picochess.ini (or use the web interface menu under System/Picochess.ini) and update the following fields (e.g.):
Ensure the checkbox to the left of each entry is checked and press Save at the bottom (if using the web interface to edit picochess.ini).
Reboot.
Now, if the Pi is connected to the internet, it will automatically send the PGN file to you when the game ends.
To send the latest picochess.log file, use the clock menu and select System/mailLogFile.
