Hello chess friends!

A FREE android app:

1. You can connect it via bluetooth with the DGT-Board
2. Its easy to add UCI engines and xb engines
3. You can play online with other people on FICS, LICHESS, ICC :-) ( and guess what - there are also the little arrows I always wanted)

And so on and so on. :-)

It works only via bluetooth. Connectin is VERY easy!

It does NOT wor via USB.

this app is just was i was looking for for ages!! It's just marvelous. It connects easily with my DGT Board over BT. Quick and easy.

Also the connection with Internet Chess Services like fics or lichess is just amazing.

Dear Chess Friends,

this sounds very good -  but  I got the error message "DGT Connection Failure  Cannot connect to DGT_BT20982. Check your DGT e_Board setup". I use a mobile phone type SAMSUNG Galaxy Note II with Android 4.4. My DGT e-Board with name BT20982 is paired with pin under Bluetooth, but the connection within in the game setup failed. What can I do? Perhaps my mobile phone or my bluetooth version is too old. What type of phone you are using? Thanks.

P.S.: Now, Picochess under 0.82 seems really stable and contains a good functionality. Thanks to all developers for this wonderful piece of chess software!

Hi,

Yes me to. Just wanted to play with other PEOPLE via (FICS, LICHESS) without the need to start a PC.
I can not say why - the PC always destroyed the natural feeling.
For this reason I shared this info in order to share the experience to play on a wooden chessboard the natural way.

Try it again:
1. Look if the DGT-Board is switched on - and powered.
2. Turn on bluetooth on your handy.
3. Click the connection button in the app - be carefull to choose the right one - you can read DGT_BT_SOMEWHAT
4. Then you are asked to put in a number: 0000

Two glitches: on my DGT-bluetooth the pieces on a8 and Kb8 are flipping after connection and the time to transpose a move from my Android-LG3 to the DGT-board is too low to play blitz by two humans so the game cannot be protocolled

Thank you so much for your help. I tried several times exactly your procedure - with no success. On my Samsung Galaxy Note II the device DGT e-board is appearing with status "gekoppelt" (this is the same status like "paired" after input of the board pin), but the last step of establishing the connection after clicking the detected device DGT e-board failed always with an error.

I absolutely love this app! :-)

Of course you can play rated games online - but it's not easy find this option :-)

You have to tip on the symbol that looks like a CUP.

first i hope we not lost a picochess user to this app :-)
I shortly tried out this app, but im not able to UNDO moves over the dgt board. Is there another secret (im missing)?

PS. i like the playing with many boards. That makes me feel like a GM (=Simultanturnier) :-)
Sadly, its not useful with a dgt board , haha.
Using it with board im mainly missing the function to undo moves (see above).

This app works also with the Revelation II board. 

But the leds do'nt work. But they say that this will be fix soon. 

Also the ios app is come soon.

I like this App also, but also the nice Picochess!!

Hallo Peter. Weißt du zufällig, ob man auch ein Revelation 2 mit der App bespielen kann. Also das die Dioden den gegnerischen Zug anzeigen? So das man das Handy weglegen kann.

just tried to connect my DGT eboard...does'nt work : settings / eboard / scan devices....then the message is first "scanning" and then just "DGT eboard disconnected".... my board is detected by my PC and my Pico chess...

what should I do?

If you use a USB-Board without Bluetooth, there ist no way at time to connect them.
i sent a lot of Mails to the Developers, but unfortunatly they cant fix the Problem.

Please sent a Mail to Acid-Ape. Perhaps they will working again to fix the USB-Problem.

Hello,

Great app, but although you can turn off your computers you still need to keep an eye (or ear) to your smartphone. Unless there is a way which I have not found, to send the movements and times to the pi device. A DGT Pi in my case. I tried to connect the board to de DGT Pi via USB, and the smartophone to the board via BT. But no success...FYI i run version 0,75, the one that came intalled in the DGT Pi device.

From my point of view, the greatness of picochees is the ability to allow us to play a game (module other online)  with no need  extra devices in use.¿Will this be 100% possible someday?

Hi Vicente,
hmmmm... perhaps i misunderstand y. But y can EITHER use the apid app and connect yr board to this app and not use a dgt clock, OR y can use yr DGTPi & board => without apid. If you use apid, the clock (and more - cause the smartphone display can display alot more - its advantage) is your smartphone. But i like to use the dgt clock.

If possible please update your DGTPi software (=>exchange the sd card), y can take the image from dgt or look at my webpage picochess.com.
v0.75 is great, but the newer versions are even greater :-)

Hello, my USB eboard has problem detection with Acid Ape Chess and doesn't function...:( 

From AAC they answer to me that will not support the DGT board. I hope that they will solve the issue with the usb version for us and for chess.

Not to put a damper on your hopes , but we already know they will not support the usb DGT board. Time to move on or upgrade to the Bluetooth board.
