Hello All,

I think I have figured out how to replay a PGN file but just want to make sure the procedure is what everyone else is doing.

Also, not sure what the good download pgn websites are - is this a good one (??):
https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1011478

There is a download link on that site, and I can wget that file to /opt/picochess/games.
I then can overwrite the "last_game.pgn" file with the wget'd file. And then I select the "Last Game"  in the follow on menu from "PGN Replay & Analysis Enginge 32 bit" in Modern Engines.

I hit the DGTPi "lever" which in this case is the red highlighted up arrrow in picochesweb interface. And then the game from my downloaded pgn starts and then I can follow the light indicators on the chessnut board squares to follow the game through itself.

Is that the procedure that everyone is following? Or is there some better ways to play through a PGN file on the picochess V3 system?

Kind regards,
Tahir

Have a look at this post from Dirk describing the feature.

Also, the Intro to PicoChess pdf has some information, but it is getting old now. 🙂

Hi Tahir,

I don’t think the PGN engine is the best option to replay different games which you don’t want to have permanently within picochess.

Instead the PGN engine offers an easy way to really the games you played with picochess or the ones you intentional added to the .uci file (famous games like Al  & friends vs Kasparov ;-)

The last_game.pgn is really reserved for the last picochess game you played and shouldn’t be overwritten by yourself (but of course you could do that as you have figured out but it will be overwritten again after playing another picochess engine game)
.

Hi Tahir,

As Dirk says, it easy to add further games or even collections of games as I did …

See attached image …

Cheers,

Hi! Analysing my last game with this module, it allows me to follow it, but it is not visible on the screen. Is this normal?

Nacho, try pressing the SYNC button below the board display.

It doesn't work Randy, the SYNC button does nothing. I have tried it twice after your help. However, as you can see in the video, it gives the correct indications (LEDs and voice).

Is there any parameter to configure? I just select the engine and the pgn file and start playing.

Hi Nacho. There does appear to be an issue there. I see an occasional arrow showing the move on the web board but the pieces don't move.

Perhaps Dirk can check it.
