Hi Group,
Can I install Komodo Dragon 2 chess engine on the DGTPI?

If so, how would I run custom settings (e.g. personalities, auto skill, etc....)
Along the same lines, is there a simple way to install custom Rodent IV personalities that have a preset ELO rating as well as other changes?
Best,
Rick

For an engine to run directly on the DGTPi, it would need to be uci compliant and be compiled for armhf (or possibly aarch64 if using a 64-bit OS on the Pi). It might be possible to run it as a remote engine on your PC. Not sure if anyone has attempted that for a commercial engine.

For Rodent IV, have a look at the rodent4.uci file in the engines folder. You can add a personality with your own parameters (or modify another) and include the 2 lines below the personality name:

[New Personality]         <-----  max 11 chars on DGTPi display though

.
UCI_LimitStrength = true
UCI_Elo = ???

Hi Rick,

Komodo Dragon 2 is a commercial Engine which you have to buy.
Assuming you have bought the PC version then yes you ONLY can run this as a Remote Engine as Randy has said.

I can compile most Free or Open Source Engines for the Raspberry Pi, failing that, some Authors provide a Raspberry Pi binary.

I have tried in vane to get the Komodo author to provide a Raspberry Pi binary for his older “free” versions, so I now have Komodo 12 free running on my windows tablet as a remote engine plus a few other Engines that are provided for Windows but not the Raspberry Pi.

I also have 2 older versions namely Komodo BeeKay and Komodo v2.03 running on my RPi.

Cheers,

Al.
