Hi all,

Has anyone managed to get any sound on their Bluetooth devices from PicoChess when Voice is activated?
I've followed many a suggestion online using bluetoothctl and pulseaudio, where connection is possible but no sound.

The voices work fine through a normal speaker but this annoys anyone else in the house.
Yes I can use normal plug in headphones, but my new Bose Bluetooth Headphones are very comfortable 🎧

Cheers,

Al.

Are you using the DGT board in bluetooth mode too?

Hi Shiv,

Yes my Revelation II with DGT Pi Clock.

I can get a Bluetooth connection with the headphones but no sound. I'm guessing I have to change some parameters somewhere, but I've tried all sorts and installed loads of different software trying to follow hints online, but to no avail.

Cheers,

Al.

Was about to suggest if you can try the DGT board in USB mode and then bluetooth with the headphones. However, seems like this is not an option for you.

Hi Shiv,

Thanks for your input, it's similar to what I'd tried, however I tried what I could from this link. Most of it was to pair the device, which I have no problem doing.
I even created the new audio.conf file as suggested at the bottom, to no avail.
PicoChess doesn't have a gui, so I can't startx and use the menus, so I can't chose the high fidelity playback through lack of menus.

Cheers,

Al.

Hi Al
yes sound output via Blootooth works on odroid xu4/Ubuntu 14 and 16. I think I had to install alsa + pulsecontrol and  I connected via blueman.

But with the Pi3 and Jessie BT connections are a pain in the neck! No connection to a speaker or a headset possible via Terminal
I studied many suggestions and a few daysago  I found those two recent interesting posts ( March 25th/26th 2017):

I now agree with Youness: The Raspberry Pi 3´s  Hardware (or the drivers the come with debian 8 = Jennie) are the problem!

after I blacklisted the buildIn Blootooth and  used an external BT Stick and updated as described in the second post
I could immediately connect (using bluetoothctl) an external BT speaker  (Marshall Acton) via BT and play ogg and other testfiles.

WIth picochess I still use cable connection to the amplifier ((have to spend some more time and write a script/service to do the BT connection on startup and direct the output of picochess talker to the amplifier).

Maybe this information helps!

Kind regards

Laterunner

Hi Laterunner,

Nice find, I'll give it a go when I get a spare hour or so and report back.

Cheers,

Al.
