Hi,

while testing, it is "Normal" for me to come up with "suggestions" which could seem even exaggerated, but why not doing a bit of "cleanup" where it's useful?

Please see the below:

Hi have a couple suggestions here..

1- I'm not sure why we are showing the [E] next to the Pico PV. My understanding is that the PV shown here is always produced by the selected Pico engine, so to me this is redundant, and can be eliminated.
2- The format of the PV from Pico and the PV from Web are different and I don't see why they should. For Pico, we have the eval first and then the depth on the same line, and the PV on another line. For web, we have instead the depth first (and on a single line) and then the whole rest on the following line.
I don't have a specific preference, but I would welcome the fact that the same format is applied to both. Simplicity and Clean UI could probably help our users navigate and understand things better and quicker -- at least this is my very own opinion :-) !!

Thanks!

AG

Fixed the UX so that they look alike. The reason they were different is that the Web can show more than one line if you are not on localhost, like on your phone for instance. Since there can be many lines the evalution marker was set for every line. In the Pico analysis coming from the picochess backend there can only be one line at the moment, so the eval was one step higher to give more space for the line.
But I agree, this is now better UX, so I updated it.

The "E" means the chosen engine, but its not redundant. If you have tutor activated, and are in a move entering mode like Hint On, or Eval, then the tutor will be sending the evaluation lines, and then its marked with a "T". When you play against an engine and you have tutor activated, you will see that its "T" when its your turn and tutor is running, and "E" when the engine is thinking and the chosen engine sends the analyses.

Johan,

I finished testing this one as well - which I had dropped for a second - and confirm the new UI is great, much more readable than before thanks.

The only leftover is that the evaluation has a [+] for the Pico/Tutor lines and not for the web lines see below.

The rest works perfectly. I also tested it with F20 as remote_engine and remote_tutor and it works great.

Thanks

Good testing... It always helps when someone else tests. Testing is indeed valuable. Fixed this small detail as well, this was a one-liner change in the web client code.

I've noticed a small formatting issue when promoting - the text is wrapped in the analysis for the promotion:

The move list is fine.
