I'm sharing an image for writing directly to the SD card of Picochess V4_2.
It contains all the engines, books, and configurations available for this version to date.
The intention is to make it accessible to as many people as possible, without requiring extensive computer skills. The image has VNC enabled, allowing remote access to the desktop with the username "pi" and the password "picochess". Best regards, and I hope everything goes well.

Although they are from two different sites, the images and files are the same.

En ella están todos los motores, libros y configuraciones que hasta la fecha tiene la versión.
La intención es que llegue al máximo personas posibles, sin que para ello haya que tener muchos
conocimientos de informática.  La imagen contiene el vnc activado, para poder acceder al escritorio
en remoto con usuario pi y contraseña picochess.  Un saludo y espero todo vaya bien.

Hola Antonio, muchas gracias por tu gran trabajo.  Tengo una duda, en el numeral 5 de las instrucciones para la versión desktop menciona la configuración del wifi y ssh antes de grabar la tarjeta.  Yo tengo la versión 2.0.6 de Raspberry Pi Imager, pero no aparece ninguna opción avanzada para realizar tal configuración… ¿Estoy omitiendo algo tal vez, o es en otro programa que debo hacer eso?

You can try using an older version of Imager (e.g. 1.9.6) but it may not work with newer versions of Trixie as they switched to Cloud Init. New versions of Imager detect custom images and won't allow wifi to be preconfigured. SSH probably already works in Antonio's image but you'll need to use an Ethernet cable initially to connect the Pi to your network then use raspi-config to set up wifi.

Programas incluidos en las carpetas compartidas:

Raspberry Image v 1.8 --------------------------------------------->   Programa para grabar archivo .img a la tarjeta (mínimo de 32 gigas). El usar este programa es para que se pueda en opciones poner el Wifi (aunque no se al 100% si en Debian Trixie lo permite. En                                                                                                  caso de que el wifi no esté configurado, no queda otra que conectar por cable la primera vez a la raspberry y configurar el wifi poniendo en la terminal :             sudo raspi-config                                                                                                                                      Se puede usar el programa Win32 Disk Image tambien.

Putty ------------------------------------------------------------------------>    Programa para poder conectar con la tajeta via SSH una vez que sepamos la dirección IP.  Usuario pi   contraseña   picochess

VNC viewer  ------------------------------------------------------------->    Programa para conectar en la imagen Desktop Full para que sea todo más gráfico al escritorio. Esta imagen consume más recursos, por lo que no es apropiada (aunque funciona todo más lento) 

                                                                                                 para una Raspberry pi 3 o inferior.

WinSCP ------------------------------------------------------------------->    Programa con el cual se puede conectar a la raspberry pi (conociendo la IP) y poder intercambiar archivos de forma gráfica. Mucho más intuitivo, aunque no es necesario usar.

Pedir disculpas por las imágenes anteriores, pues a la versión de Desktop Debian no dejaba conectar o no se veía el escritorio.    Mi intención es poner las cosas lo más fácil posible a todos los usuarios, después del gran trabajo y horas dedicadas a todo esto tanto por parte mia como por parte de Johan  y todos los anteriores programadores, mantenedores, etc  etc

Aún así sería muy bueno para todos los usuarios poner configuración y si ha ido bien o no.       Entre todos buscaremos las soluciones.      Seguimos trabajando !!!

Imágenes  probadas y funcionado en RPi4 tanto con tableros Chessnut Go a través de bluetooth como con Certabo a través de usb . Conexiones con SSH y VCN también funcionando sin problemas . 

Gran aporte Antonio , muy completo y todo muy claro , estoy seguro que mucha gente aunque no se pronuncie te lo va a agradecer .

Hello, because some 32GB cards do not always fit images created from 32GB as there are differences between brands; I have also created 16GB images that have exactly the same thing. The only thing that changes is the free space that the image has. But they have exactly the same engines, same books, etc etc. You can download the 16GB image (which takes less time) and once recorded on the card, expanding the free space until it occupies the entire microSD. I explain all this in the step-by-step instructions in the folder that I have shared.

He also created a list of the engines that include Picochess V4.2 with a description of their characteristics, especially those of Rodent III and Rodent IV.

Hola, debido a que en algunas tarjetas de 32gigas no siempre entran las imágenes creadas de 32gigas al haber diferencias entre marcas; he creado imágenes también de 16gb que tienen exactamente lo mismo. Lo único que cambia es el espacio libre que tiene la imagen. Pero tienen exactamente mismos motores, mismos libros, etc etc. Puedes descargar la imagen de 16gb (que se tarda menos) y una vez grabada en la tarjeta ampliar el espacio libre hasta que ocupe toda la microSD. Todo esto lo explico en las instrucciones paso a paso que hay en la carpeta que he compartido.

También he creado un listado de los motores que incluye Picochess V4.2 con una descripción de las características de estos, sobre todo los de Rodent III y Rodent IV.

Many thanks, Antonio, Johan, Randy and others for your great work.  Unfortunately, I am not very skilled in Ubuntu and the Raspberry Pi OS, but I have some questions:

I could run picochess as a local web server using Chromium in my setup (10-inch touchscreen with speakers included, Raspberry Pi 4), with Wi-Fi enabled, and each time I have to enter the picochess password.

1) How can I enter the OS without having to write the password each time?.

2) Is it possible to start the system directly in picochess without having to open Chromium each time, and write the ip address?

3) I realised that I have sound only when I shut down the system; the sound and voices are activated, but they only appear when I shut down the system.

4) I have to use the arrow keys or mouse to navigate on the picochess interface, the board is too large for the screen, is there a way to fix that?.  Simple Zoom did not work.

1) sudo raspi-config → System Options → Boot / Auto Login → Desktop Autologin.

OR: you can run install-picochess to get my latest version where I added a new script to do this kiosk installation automatically by using one command it will do 1) and 2)

3: Sound problems can be difficult. If you can find the setting icon and find the "audio-backend" and change it to value "native" your sound might start to work?

4. Please tell us what resolution you have on your screen. You can always try to click F5 or resize the window with your mouse?

Thanks Johan for your kind help, I have solved most of the problems

1) I resolved using your suggestion

2) I solved installing the webserver page as an app and make it starting automatically with the cromium settings (I guess it was my solution not totally sure, because I also did what you suggested at the same time, but it only worked when I installed as an app)

3) I found the setting icon on the GUI and it was originally set using AV Jack, I changed to HDMI, as required by my setup,  and the problem was solved.

4) The screen size was automatically solved when I installed the web server page as an app on the desktop.

Hope this help to other users.  I will be testing thoroughly during the next days/weeks.
