Latest Stockfish dev version in picochess v4.2.3 or later

Hi Randy,

I am new member!

Is it possible to make an automatic engine update in picochess v4.2.3 from the latest Stockfish developmentversion.

I have tried to do this manualy in picochess 3.4 bookworm it was easy to replace.

But in picochess v4.2.3 it's very hard to do this.

I'll hope it should be possible, by the way maybe can Johan aslo anser this question!??

Further I am very happy with this current version!!!

You should be able to replace the current version with any newer compile, just like v3. Once you compile the dev version, rename it to StockfishNN, place it in the /opt/picochess/engines/aarch64/NNUE folder and make sure it's executable.

How can I compile the latest Stockfish dev version?

I can replace the binary but I cannot compile for a pi 5.

Have a look at the stockfish GitHub site. It has the source code for stockfish as well as instructions on how to compile it.

Thx Randy,

When I replace a dev.binary of the latest Stockfish I get a failure message when I want to load it for the first time. I can only use the pre installed Stockfish 18.

In picochess 3.4 it was no problem, but I want to use picochess v4.2.3 because of the more possibilty's. I have no idea why this failure message is given.

I don't know why it is  S

I used allways in picochess 3.4 the android dotprod and it worked, but this is another operating system, but why does this work in picochess 3.4 and not in picochess 4.2.3?

It says S path not find.

Maybe we will become further I do not know much at this topic!?

No guarantees that the android build will work on all RPis. Better to compile your own. It's easy to learn how to do it yourself on the Pi.
