Ivan, The Terrible ;-)

Thanks to Randy for the new mame version, Luis for the realistic artworks and Franz for providing the new plugins I could successfully convert and import most of the new emulated chess computers (especially the ones based on the H8 chip) into PicoChess.

There are some nice machines like a new robot (Excalibur Mirage), new funny talking machines with sound effects like Ivan The Terrible or Igor and the Talking Chess Academy. But also the interesting  Saitec Prisma or Star Diamond machines...

During the next days I will provide the needed files to Randy who hopefully will include them in one of his next PicoChess images...you will only need the necessary new roms - greetings to Franz ;-)

That's great, Dirk. I'm looking forward to adding these new (old) machines. 😊

Yes  Randy - some really nice engines which are fun to play (at least for me ;-)

Update:
There was one engine which did not run in PicoChess even after updating the plugin to the newer lua version.

The Novag Super VIP

But Franz did it again and came to rescue the PicoChess community again ;-)

After some debugging (and some new grey hairs) he found the solution (again the direct ram access had to be adjusted for the new mame/lua version).

Now the Novag Super VIP runs without problems and I could add it as well.
Thank you Franz!

That's good news. Thanks Franz!

Hi Dirk,
thank you for the new chess computers. Do you think there is a chance for Saitek Teammate to make it into Picochess?

Hi Ralf,

yes - as Kasparov Saitek Team-Mate is already emulated by mame and Franz has already created a plugin we could adapt this for PicoChess.

I have already checked that the plain is not that complicated so that we can easily convert it to the new lua syntax we need for mame emulated engines  in PicoChess.

And - surprise surprise - we also have some nice realistic artwork from Luis which I we can also easily adopt to the linux/raspian file path conventions etc.

Let's see.... if I can find some time during the next days....

I have added Saitek Kasparov Team-Mate and  Conquistador by Kaplan, Julio & Barnes, Craig to PicoChess.

Both use same level settings and are probably the same regarding the implemented program (but I don't know for sure) but the Conquistador has two clocks (although showing strange unusable times in my opinion).

Both machines are able to set up a specific position in via PicoChess.

I will send the new files to Randy who might add them in one of his next images.

Enjoy

This is great! Team Mate was my first real chess computer. Nothing special but I still like it. Thanks a lot!

That was my guess ;-)

My first chess computers were Chess Champion MKI and Chess Champion Super System III
- not really comparable with the Team-Mate as a fist chess computer I think ;-)
