As Debian's fan and PIC programs developer I get troubles on running
pk2cmd 1.20 on my Debian Etch 64 bit...because this software is
natevly 32 bit, you know...
Could you suggest me any idea or suggestion on how to run it on my
platform???
I mean...it´s crazy to install a 32bit platform by a debootstrap just
for running this application.
I hope microchip is going to release a 64 bit version of this software
soon...
Thank you in advance!

Hi Aicra
What do you mean? Didi you try to run the program from binaries or compiling it on your platform?
Let me know...;) sorry...let us know ....
BTW, I´m going to install lenny on my band new laptop next weeks, dunno exactly when, but sure lenny distro...64 bit.
I would like to solve this leakage of pkcmd on 64 bit platform...
Hope you can tell me more...
Thank you
Have fun...

Bye!!!!!!!

Why? Don't you need to install the 32bit stuff in order to run
flash plugin or things like that? And hard drive is cheap and you
have plenty of space to do that.

Tried to compile from the posted source. First of all, I use GCC not G+
+, so I had to consider that. Then, I installed the latest libusb...

I don't know if you understand Debian users and the philosophy Debian
users adhere to.
There is a philosophy of using only free software. Free as in freedom.
Otherwise, we would just use MPLAB on wine.

The 32bit library for the 64bit platform is free software. You can install
the 32bit libraries and try to use pk2cmd. If you encounter problem,
then please report.

And if you want the 64bit version of pk2cmd, you can try to change
pk2cmd to see if it works. The code is there.

No Xiao, you don`t need to install them anymore. On 64 bit platform you have 64 bit software from macromedia player website.
Furthermore...installing a 32 bit enviroment just for runnign a so small program is cool, funny, amazing, interesting, curiosly, etc...but sure no an efficient way!
Anyway thank you very much
See you!

Use the source, Luke! Recompile it for 64 bit and let us know if there are any
issues. If there are, I'd like to know.
