New issue 248 by hosting

Will has been generously donating hosting (plus .net
and .com) for ~5 years now and wants to step back.

As I think the is a good landing page IMO we should keep it.

The current website requires a webserver serving static files. The server
runs a cronjob doing svn updates every 4h.
No php/db/etc. needed. See

Alternative: simply redirect to

What do you guys think?

Anybody stepping forward to host it? Renewal will be due 2014-06-14.

If I remember correctly we wanted to host site content from
google code svn but either checking it all into svn was too slow and/or
there wasn't enough space available from google code for the repository to
allow it.

The fact that the site is available at

is new to me (or perhaps I have forgotten); why not just implement the

there's 3 (maybe minor) downsides to the redirect

- lengthy urls in the address bar when browsing,
- directory links don't resolve to index.html but list the directory,
- no more 'staging' area ;-)

Comment #4 on issue 248 by hosting

I was using Piccolo2D in some of my private projects and currently I'm
working on a commercial software that will use Piccolo2D to show a simple
graphical scene.

I have a Linux VSP on in London, that is currently serving two
web sites.

I would be willing to pay for the domain and setup the
documentation of piccolo2d on my server.

Are you willing to update the Piccolo2D documentation on ?
Or are you going to use Wiki for the documentation?
Do you want to change the documentation to a Wiki (like Mediawiki) or do
you want to continue to use static HTML files?

Regards, Erwin.

Hello Erwin,

Sorry for not following up on this sooner. If you are still willing to
host the documentation, the Piccolo2D project would be happy to take you up
on your offer.

Unfortunately I don't actually know the details of how the rsync was set
up, I just committed documentation to the svn repository and it showed up
on This wiki page is the best we have to go on

There just never was a rsync.

However, as mentioned on, a cron
job running on the webserver doing a svn update every 4h.

Does the description on the wiki page need clarification?

The served as a landing page with all the infrequently
changing content and pointed here (google code) for all 'dynamic' stuff -
code, wiki, issues, tarballs.

I'm afraid WontFix applies across the board at this point.

P.S.: went to a domain grabber in switzerland who wants to
press USD 900 and went to China.

As they're all gone (forever and due to lack of care, I may add) I set up
an unofficial mirror on a subdomain of mine at
The procedure of updating remains as it ever was.

I see very little publishing activity by the new owner of

Maybe it's worth while to contact him and tell him about our grief having
lost the domain and kindly ask him to - if he ever wants to get rid of it -
consider handing it over to one of us in case.

What do you guys think? And if so, anybody who could help translate to
japanese? Or polish the english version?
