Hello

Due to a system crash I recently had to re-install Picasa starter on my Desktop PC.
I did something wrong because the imported photo's are not placed on my NAS but on my local Picture map.

I have made a screendump of settings in options of Picasastarter.
The V: disks is the Picture Partition of my NAS

What did I do wrong ?

regards Gijs

Let me get back to you.  I use a nifty trick to get my database off my C: drive that only contains programs.http://james-ramsden.com/move-picasa-database-another-drive/#:~:text=What%20is%20a%20symbolic%20link,symbolic%20link%20in%20its%20place.

Thanks for your answer. I don't think it will work, because all my pictures from 2007 till a week ago are still on my NAS . Only the imported pictures from the last days are placed in c:\pictures.
But Picasa/Picasstarter displays both, so the older ones on my NAS and the newer one on my c: disk

Hi Gijs:

I am a little rusty on PicasaStarter since I haven’t messed with the code in a while.

How are you importing the pictures? Whatever app that is importing the pictures must be putting them in the local pictures map

Picasa/Picasastarter just displays pictures in the folders defined in the database so the Picasa Tools/Folder manager must be set to scan the Pictures folder.

I assume you have Picasastarter pointed at the same database tou were using before the re-install.

If you  manually copy a photo over to a watched folder in the NAS, does it then appear in Picasa?

Earl

Hi:
Pieter told you this in 2014:  Is it the same problem?

       Hello Gijs.

Can you open Picasa and go to "Tools"/"Options..." on the tab "General" and check if the "Save imported pictures in" setting is pointing to the location you want?

YES it is. Shame on  me. I didn't remember my question in 2014, 8 years ago.  All the time it was working fine. I didn't have a look in Picasa itself, I was looking for a not correctly installed Picasastarter and forget the Picasa configuration.
Thankx Earl !!

All,

Glad this is resolved.

I use Picasa to quickly find photos, but use Lightroom to process all my images because it journalizes all changes and leaves the original image untouched.

They all get loaded into Google Photos using a nifty plugin provided by https://www.newpproducts.com/
