Hi
I have been using the last version of Picasa, started used 'Picasa Starter' and had used the FixPicasaMap.reg and modified geopanelscript_v3.html and all was good under Windows 10.
Now, probably since the recent update to Windows 10, I am getting a message: "You are using a browser that is not supported by the Google Maps JavaScript API. Consider changing your browser" when trying to GeoTag a picture.
But Google Maps claims to work with the latest version of EDGE (I am using the standard Win10 browser).

Can anyone enlighten me as to exactly what the problem is, and better still how to solve it.
Many thanks.

Hello,
For the reason why something is going wrong: Picasa under the hood uses internet explorer... It doesn't use edge, so there must be a problem with the IE version.

But I'm afraid I don't know a solution to the problem...

Hi Nick,
try updating in geopanelscript_v3.html the value of meta X-UA-Compatible to "IE=EmulateIE11". In my case it was set to "IE=EmulateIE8" in this file

I am still experimenting, but it let he map come back up in Picasa. There is a warning coming up about JS and browser version, but it works so far for me after dismissing that.

Best Regards,
Oliver

Yes, that worked for me (Windows 10 32bit. latest Picasa Version). Changing line

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

into

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE8" />

let me see all geotagging and add a new tag to a photo.

Hi,
I did all that down here already 2018 and my Picasa 3 (last version) worked very well until now. ( Windows 10 64bit).
Unfortunately after the last update in the map window I see the error: "referenceError: No definition of "google""
I did the   "geopanelscript_v3.html the value of meta X-UA-Compatible to "IE=EmulateIE11"" and   "FixPicasaMap.reg " but it doesn't help!

Please help me because to see the geo placement  of my photos is very important for me.

Hi there. I'm new to Picasa and I wish I would've started using it before.
Anyways, my Geo-location API doesn't work but I found this page in german and it has helped many people: (Please read everything first).
Hope it works for someone stumbling with this post. :)

Thanks for the pointer, Virginia. I have done all that, as well as the change suggested by Martin above.
However, none of it gets rid of the "ReferenceError: 'google' is undefined" error message.

I did note that the change suggested by Martin changes the error message to "Type Error: 'google' is undefined" when using EmulateIE8 (but not when using EmulateIE11).
Don't know if that will suggest something to someone digging into this.

Isn't there someone out there in Geekdom who can fix this problem?  Maybe a disgruntled ex-Google engineer...
