I am sure that we will eventually move to MPLAB-X -- it is simply a time issue, we have several video tutorials using MPLAB 8 that would have to be redone, as well as all of the project files.

A few days ago I started using MPLAB X. I also watched a 4 hour webinar from microchip which showed very impressive the advanteges and improvements from MPLAB to MPLAB X.
In my opinion, the biggest advantage is:
With all the #defines and #ifdef and preprocessor macros, it shows you exactly which of the things are defined and which are not. So, if I can give you an advice, go and spend the time, do the webinar and start using MPLAB X.
You can easely import the existing MPLAB projects. As much as I can say until now, the support library works fine. With the above described advantage, you can see much more better which definitions are enabled and which are disabled.
Try i!.
Does anyone have experiences with the support library and the new XC16-compiler?
