Updates for 2013

Hi All,

 

Great to be in 2013.

 

Appreciate it if you can update us on what Open Source GeoSpatial initiatives you will embark on in 2013 so I can update our Wiki.

Hi guys,

Been trying out opengeo suite for the last couple of weeks and it is quite excellent. I came across them in the forums and they are pretty good.

They have a community edition which is free and also a paid version for those that need support. I have used the community version and it has almost the same features as the paid version.

It basically puts everything that i have been working on into one easy to install and managed packaged which is quite amazing. It uses postgres/postgis for database, Geoserver for map/middleware and GeoEXT and openlayers for web client. 

I have open it so that you guys can access it from outside our LAN

Web client : http://123.176.77.176:8077/geoexplorer/composer/#maps/1

Geoserver : http://123.176.77.176:8077/geoserver/web/

It currently uses a test server with old data. I am testing it a bit more before i direct it to use my current geoserver and postgis servers. For web client i am thinking of using Geoexplorer by opengeo for webclient.  

It is very easy to install and operate. No need to do complex configuration that is normally associated with opensource software.

Great stuff..and great for us to see there other alternatives in the Map Server Client in Open Source for GeoSpatial solutions.
