Prayers for the Nation: Arise, Shine For Your Light Has Come
Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 7:00 PM
Calling our congregations to prayer in this season of Epiphany as we face a national transition in the midst of unrest, Pandemics, and a time of great mission opportunity. We come humbly before God in prayer seeking a smooth transition and guidance in how to live in this time of uncertainty and exile.

Join the Southeastern District, District staff, and LCMS church workers for this evening of prayers for our nation on Sunday evening, January 10 at 7 PM. Everyone is invited. To receive a link and instructions to this prayer service hosted on ZOOM please register on the link below.
Synod-wide vote to allow District conventions to be held in 2022

Don’t forget to vote!
Each congregation has received a letter from LCMS President Rev. Matthew Harrison regarding input as to Convention times. Because of the extra-ordinary circumstances that we are in, many of our Districts who rely on hotel venues are unable to secure locations or to plan for meetings that will hold the number of delegates.

We, in the Southeastern District, are in that position. In addition, while the vaccine is taking place, it is only in the first phases of being administered. So, the logistics of planning for a District-wide, in-person event has been placed on hold for this moment in time. Recognizing that we are not the only District facing these challenges, our national church is taking a vote to determine if both District and National Conventions can be pushed back one year (2022-District, 2023 National).

Each congregation has been asked to identify two voters who will respond to the following question:
Shall the Synod add a year to the current 2019-2022 triennium, allowing districts to hold their conventions in either 2021 or 2022, and moving the upcoming national Synod Convention from 2022 to 2023? [Thereafter, the triennium cycle will continue forward from 2023 in three-year increments, as before (i.e., with district conventions held in 2025, 2028, etc., and Synod Conventions held in 20262029, etc.).]

Vote: Yes or No.

Please expect the letter and email communication from our Synod. Vote and let your Circuit Visitor or Facilitator know that you voted.

National Lutheran Schools Week
January 24-30, 2021
The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many (MATT. 20:28).
National Lutheran Schools Week provides more than 1,900 preschools, elementary schools and high schools with the public opportunity to proclaim and celebrate God’s work among us in schools of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

We thank God for the opportunity to provide excellent academic preparation for the children we serve. We are most grateful for the opportunity to share Jesus’ amazing love with children and their families.

National Lutheran Schools Week gives us an opportunity to proclaim these great blessings within the communities we serve.

Our schools are amazing incubators for faithful witness of God’s love for us through Christ by teachers and students alike.

Phone System Update
It happens to the best of us – we age, of course, I am not talking about you. The Southeastern District phone system was installed about 28 years ago. It’s time to update and that happens during this month. Our numbers will remain the same and our staff will be on a learning curve. Please be patient with us, there should no dropped calls or loss of service. In fact, voice mail will go directly to the worker's email. So whether we are on the road, working remotely, or in the office your ability to connect with us will be improved. Thanks for your patience as we learn a new system.
