I have a Danair palm nailer that I use for driving tuning pins. Is the run-of-the-mill pneumatic tool oil fine to use to oil my palm nailer? Danair specifies to use non detergent 6 to 10 weight oil.

What do others use?

Thanks.

Terry,
I use an inline lubricating applicator w/"Marvel" Lubricating Oil. It's been around for a real long time and it is what my pneumatic guy recommends for all of my air tools. However, since Danair specifies an exact oil/weight, I'd do what they recommend. I have no clue what weight the "Marvel" oil is.
Best,
Joe

Thanks Joe. I’ve read some reviews of Marvel praising it. But I need some oil that will work tomorrow. I guess I’ll just go with air-tool oil - I’m pretty sure it’s going to be very close. My nailer is dry as a bone and has seized up!

Marvel is great stuff and despite its thin nature is a very good
lubricant. I would not worry about its lubricity. It is recommended
for use in large doses in engines. The peppermint smell is a bit
strong for me though.

I would bet that it will un-seize it. I have un-seized auto engines with it.

Right from the Marvel mystery oil page:

Can I use MMO in my air tools such as a nail gun?
Yes, you can use MMO in your air tools. However, we recommend you use
Marvel Air Tool oil for longer term use. The formulation of the Air
Tool Oil is nearly identical to the original MMO but also includes a
heavy-duty corrosion inhibitor to protect the tool in the
high-moisture environment of air tools.

I thought Ballistol fixed everything. It works on feet, hammers, guns,
teeth, salads, hinges and bushed flanges. Try dipping the nailer in
that. I use an occasional couple of drops of the 10W40 I use in the
vehicles and around the shop, and mine hasn't gone mutant and devoured
Cleveland or anything - yet. But then I'm already apparently going to
Hell, so I'm surely wrong.

Whoa! That ain't good! I think you need the "Marvel" oil more than ever. Get it at Ace Hardware Stores or your local automotive joint. It's everywhere. It has penetrating properties that will help to un-seize your pounder.

Joe
