If the reader is listed in Device Manager, find its exact model number and do a google search for that model. Doing a search for the generic "O2Micro Memory Card Reader" and "Windows 10 driver", I saw a driver on another PC manufacturer's site but I don't know if it will work with your specific model of this reader.
Whatever you do, manually set a system restore point in Win 10 before you install any new driver. So you can quickly revert if there are problems. And you probably should revert back if you want to try
another driver to remove any driver that doesn't work, so you don't have potentially conflicting files on your hard drive.
Under your machine type - drivers look for a program called Command Update. I used it on my E6530 and it found some missing drivers for me and installed them. It appears the program will check all the drivers and put in the latest for all of them. Maker sure the program is for the OS version you are looking for drivers for! Good luck
I have checked SD card does work on my E6530 with Windows 10 Pro. Booting UEFI, Legacy ROM's off, and Secure Boot on. I got the drivers installed by using Dell Command Update for Windows 10 and the E6530. Look for it under System Management, on the Drivers and Downloads page.
I would like to know if he took my suggestion and downloaded and ran the Dell Command Update. That program took care of most of my driver issues. I found a firmware update was needed that was masked as something else. Just so he knows if he installs the Dell Data Protection he WILL hose the machine completely!
I ran the Dell Command Update utility and the card reader still doesn't work. In device driver, I found that the smartcard reader is a O2 Micro OZ776 USB CCID and when I tried to update the driver, it said that I already have the best available driver installed.
Have you looked on both of the other sites, O2 Micro and Lenovo? Dell is sometimes slow about getting the drivers updated. For the business class machines they appear to have been a head of the game this time. Depending on the age of the machine the company, any of them, may not update drivers even though they should. I found problems with some of my hardware after getting the correct drivers in. The error message was very misleading as to the issue. I found I need to update the firmware to resolve the issues. You might want to look for Chip Set drivers and firmware to see if there are those kind of issues being detected but not addressed correctly.
Did you try turning Secure Boot off in BIOS Setup? If the driver isn't "officially" signed (blessed) by Microsoft, Secure Boot will prevent it from working even if it is the right driver for your hardware.
And let's be clear, a SD card reader is not the same as a Smart Card reader, so drivers for Smart Card readers certainly won't work with an SD card reader. (Smart Card readers are gadgets used to swipe credit cards.)
I have an Acer Aspire 7720G-813G32Bn laptop. It has integrated (maybe 3?)-in-one memory card reader. The reader uses Ricoh chip from R5C8 series. I don't know the exact model number. I can't see the chip itself because it's covered by plastic and is very difficult to remove.
My problem are drivers. Acer has some drivers (unfortunately, driver I used, the "CarReader_Ricoh_352.02_Vistax64" is unavailable at this time, but there is still 351 version) for Vista SP1 64 bit. So far I've used those. However since the last reinstall of Windows, when I install those drivers, nothing happens. Normally, Windows would detect a bunch of unknown devices and the SD card reader. Once I install drivers from Acer, those unknown devices turn into various card readers.
Now, however, Windows only detected SD card reader and installed the SDA Standard Compliant Host Controller. The card reader would work sporadically with that driver. After some time it stopped working altogether. At first I thought it was a hardware problem and thought is was unsolvable. Later I was trying to force the installation of Acer's drivers but when I select the .inf files, I get the "The folder you selected doesn't contain a compatible driver blah blah blah make sure driver is for win64 blah blah" error. When I try to right-lick install the .inf files, I get the "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation" error. It worked several months ago, but doesn't now.
EDIT1 I just downloaded some drivers from Microsoft(warinig: IE-only link!). With them too, I get the "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation." error. This is strange since those drivers are from M$'s official driver website.
To me, it looks like everything is working as it should from that picture. However, if you want an updated driver, take a look at Dell's support site here. Ricoh use a generic driver architecture (similar to Nvidia) and anything is pretty much compatible with anything.
so, all I can really suggest is look up the original specifications of your laptop and make sure it is compatible with the type of card you are using. If the card is not working, make sure it is in correctly.
I went into Programs & Features in the Control Panel (or just search "programs and features" in the Start menu) and opened it up. Then, in the list of all the programs, I scrolled down towards the bottom where all the Bootcamp drivers are (meaning the Windows Driver Packages). I selected the Apple SD Card Reader driver (if you can't find it, just search "Apple SD" in the search bar at the top right), and then clicked Uninstall/Change. Then I clicked Yes when the confirmation window appeared. Then I tried inserting an SD card into the reader, and it worked! It automatically installed a separate driver called "Broadcom SD SCSI Disk Device.
Tried almost everything i could, reinstalled Windows, reinstalled Bootcamp drivers, uninstalled Apple SD Card drivers/Broadcom SD Card drivers, tried manual installation of SD Card drivers, but no luck.
You should take a look at that discussion if you're experiencing this issue yes. Previous to windows 10.1 I was experiencing the SD card dropping off after sleep, but after Windows updated I am now experiencing this on every boot:
If I uninstall that unknown device, it resintalls just like that again. I've tried updating bootcamp drivers to the latest ones available several times. I've tried the suggestion in the post above to try without the apple SD card driver. None of them work.
For over three years now (see date of first post on first link below), a wide range of Macbook users have reported severe problems with the bootcamp SD card driver, we think for a particular Broadcom chipset. The issue got progressively worse with the release of Windows 10, and now with the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (1607 release) the SD Card is inoperable: on boot we receive Set Address Failed (see last link for latest post) and no known workaround exists. Please see the following links for a large variety of users posting detailed reports on this issue:
Boot into bootcamp on a Macbook pro Retina (other users have found the problem in Macbook Airs also - see posts) which uses the affected broadcom chipset, running Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Try to access content stored on an SD Card using the inbuilt SD Card reader.
See the below configuration of my mac, see also all included forum links for many other hardware configurations where this occurs and the general conclusion that this affects the Broadcom SD-card driver chipset
See all the links mentioned. Note the number of users affected, the diversity of their hardware, the amount of time that has expired since reports came in and the perceived lack of faith from users in a resolution due to Apple and Microsoft (for whom users are both paid customers) not seeking to resolve the issue. Hence I would suggest this is very urgent.

I am trying to use my smart card on a Hyper-V guest-Running Windows 8.1-Microsoft image-Joined to the domain-I don't see a smart card reader in device manager, but not sure if I should in Hyper-V Guest
With a host-Running 8.1-Not joined to the domain-With integrated card reader-With TPM enabled-The smart card reader appears in device manager and has the latest driver-The smart card appears in device manager when it is plugged in-Connected with wired LAN
I have tried an external USB card reader and get the same result. My card works on other machines that are not Hyper-V guests.I have tried installing the smart card drivers from Lenovo on the guest which does not help.I have searched ITWEB and binged for a solution but can't find one.
