We understand the importance of investing in our community. Over the past 18 years, euphoria has had the privilege of financially supporting over 40 Upstate charities who focus on sustenance, education through performing arts, and/or aid for children.
While euphoria shines a spotlight on culinary excellence and the charm for which Greenville is known, one of our main missions is to cook up goodwill for our community. Since 2006, our non-profit festival not only makes a substantial economic impact on the city year after year, but proceeds from euphoria are distributed through annual grants to local charitable organizations.
Health and happiness are often linked, sometimes even in etymologies. Nowadays euphoria generally refers to happiness, but it derives from euphoros, a Greek word that means "healthy." Given that root, it's not surprising that in its original English uses euphoria was a medical term. Its entry in an early 18th-century dictionary explains it as "the well-bearing of the Operation of a Medicine; that is, when the Sick Person finds himself eas'd or reliev'd by it." Modern physicians still use the term, but they aren't likely to prescribe something that will cause it. In contemporary medicine and psychology, euphoria can describe abnormal or inappropriate feelings such as those caused by an illicit drug or an illness.
Formulated for euphoria and joy. Its fragrance is something we have a hard time describing. A hard, sweet slap in the face. It swirls in the back of your nose and instantly picks us up. Layered with notes of Ionian Bergamot, Damask Rose, Pink Peppercorn, and White Sandalwood. (Previously named Euphoria Candle.)
When burning your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the top layer of the wax has completely melted. This will prevent the wax from tunneling around the wick. When burning the candle after the first burn, do not let it burn for over 3 hours at a time.
Ideally, we recommend keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to prevent the candle from emitting smoke or the wick falling into the wax.
After each burn, see that the wick is centered in the wax. This will also ensure that the glass does not overheat. The wick and flame should never be touching the glass. When approaching the end of the candle, leave inch of wax unburned and ensure you are not burning the candle for more than 3 hours. The glass can get overheated without the presence of wax and break.

In this re-written version of the mishnah which originally prioritized the perspectives of outside experts, experts are undermined. Instead, our Rabbis centered the expertise that is found within the person: expertise is now located in us: lev yodea marat nafsho.
In this text, I found a witness to my experience. I found ancestors who elevated self-determination over conventional expertise, I saw a concern about over-regulation of a medical system that could disenfranchise those who have needs from getting the care and resources necessary to live with dignity. Mostly, in a radical Talmudic move that seems as though it was created just for us to claim ourselves within it, I found the language I was so desperately yearning for: lev yodea marat nafsho.
This Trans Day of Remembrance & Resilience, I bless us that we find the moments of deep euphoria with our tradition that allow us to joyfully feel our way into new expressions of halakha and Torah, and that our communities create the conditions that will allow this to be so.
After the initial euphoria of skipping smog-filled traffic jams and cramped train compartments, a new reality has dawned in which the work day blends into the rest of life, like a never-ending video conference call.
