Dear Challengers,
The deadline for submitting an abstract to Computing in Cardiology (CinC) 2025 is
tomorrow. Regardless of your scores from the unofficial phase, or whether you received a score,
we strongly encourage you to submit an abstract to CinC 2025 about your team's approach to the PhysioNet Challenge 2025.
Many teams submitted entries in the final days, hours, and minutes of the unofficial phase; we received a majority of the unofficial phase entries in the last week of the unofficial phase. Many of these entries were successful, but some were not, and the large number of first-time entries does not provide enough time to identify and fix problems, no matter how small some of the problems may be.
Fortunately,
many teams without successful unofficial phase entries have promising ideas, and
we strongly encourage you to submit an abstract describing those ideas and to participate in the official phase of the Challenge regardless of your performance during the unofficial phase.
Some common questions are:
Question:
Can I submit an abstract to CinC or participate in the unofficial phase if I did not receive a successful entry or a high score during the unofficial phase?Answer:
Yes! We do not expect high scores at this stage of the Challenge. We do expect a
clear and coherent description of your method, including any
insights about this year’s task. If you received a score, then please include it in your abstract. If you did not receive a score, then please report cross-validated scores on the training set if possible.
Your goal is to convince the reviewers of your potential for the official phase of the Challenge, so think about how to convey that to the reviewers.
Question:
What should I do if I have not yet received feedback about an entry that I submitted in the final days of the Challenge?
Answer:
You can write and submit an abstract now. If you receive a score before the deadline, then you can update your abstract, which will not be reviewed until after the deadline. We are still working to share some scores from entries with long run times that we received in the final days of the unofficial phase, but the important parts of your abstract – a clear and coherent description of your method, including your insights about this year’s task — should not change between now and then.
Question:
Can my approach change between the unofficial phase and the official phase or during the official phase?Answer:
Yes. We expect and hope that your approach will continue to evolve, and we understand that your abstract may not reflect your final method. You can update your abstract later for the conference.
We look forward to sharing exciting changes and updates for the official phase, so please stay tuned.
Best,
Matt
(On behalf of the Challenge team.)
