Dear Challengers,
The
deadline for
submitting an entry during the unofficial phase (8th April) is less than one week away, and the
deadline for
submitting your CinC abstract (15th April) is less than two weeks away! We are writing to remind you to submit an unofficial phase entry in the next day or two, and not in the hours or minutes before the deadline, in case there are unexpected errors with your entry that prevent us from scoring it.
Most first attempts fail for simple reasons. However, due to the large number of entries immediately before the deadline, we do not have the capacity to debug last-minute issues or the ability to accept changes after the submission deadline. Please remember that you must have at least one successful entry during the unofficial phase of the Challenge at least one of the digitization and classification tasks and an accepted CinC abstract to be eligible to be ranked at the end of the Challenge.
Please note that your Challenge abstract won’t be judged on the quality of your results, but rather on the coherence of your proposal of what you will do (which can change over the next several months). The
Challenge website has more information on how to prepare a strong abstract.
Your participation during the unofficial phase of the Challenge is also invaluable for helping us to improve the Challenge before the official phase. Every year, we receive insightful feedback that arrives too late to implement for the Challenge, so please submit your entries and share your insights now so that we can incorporate them into the Challenge. We have already made (and continue to make and plan) changes to improve the Challenge with your feedback, which has been especially helpful this year.

Best,
Matt
(On behalf of the Challenge team.)
