Dear Organizers of the competition,

According to the SNOMED CT coding convention, sinus rhythm with code 426783006 is the father node of normal sinus rhythm, sinus arrhythmia, sinus bradycardia, and sinus tachycardia. It is the same conventional notion for ECG reading practice.

From the labels of whole data and score functions, I did not find normal sinus rhythm with SNOMED CT code 426285000. So I have the following questions:

1) In the training dataset, are there any ECG registries with the diagnosis of normal sinus rhythm?

2) Did we use the different conventions to use sinus rhythm with code 426783006 to represent normal sinus rhythm with code 426285000?

3) If the answer is not for question 2), the current labeling mechanism has mutual inclusion problem. For example, the label of 426783006 could include 427393009, 426177001, and 427084000.

I tried to find the possible definition from the competition website and github, but did not get it. From the scientific and clinical practice perspective, we should make this point clear.

Looking forward to seeing the response!

Thank you!

Dear Participant,

We agree there are some institutional differences in the definition of some diagnosis, such as whether to use a general taxonomy like sinus rhythm and something more precise like normal sinus rhythm. The Challenge poses a real-world problem using real-world data, and we have purposefully processed the data as little as possible to make the problem as realistic as possible. It is up to the participant if they want to make a distinction or merge diagnosis such as 426783006, 427393009, 426177001, and 427084000 in their classifiers.

Thanks,

Erick
