Dear Challengers,

Thank you to everyone who submitted entries in the past months, weeks, and days! Believe it or not, the end of the official phase is this week, and CinC 2025 is less than one month away. We’re excited to see you at CinC 2025:

Please read this announcement for a preview of our next steps, and please see the Challenge website for the current deadlines:
https://physionetchallenges.org/2025/#key-dates-deadlines

Official Phase:
The official phase deadline is 20 August 2025 at midnight GMT. If you have not yet submitted your first official phase entry, then please triple check it and submit it today! We will attempt to run all code submitted by the deadline.

We always receive a large number of entries in the final days and hours of the official phase. Unfortunately, some of the entries have issues that prevent us from scoring them, and we are unable to accept additional submissions, including minor bug fixes, after the deadline because of the tight timeline imposed by the conference and the need for fairness to other teams. Even if we cannot run your code through no fault of your own, there is simply no time to run it after the deadline.

Evaluation on the Test Set:
We are currently running the official phase entries on the validation set. After the end of the official phase, we will run a single entry from each team on the test set. You can choose which entry you want us to run; if you do not choose an entry, then we will choose your team’s highest scoring entry on the validation set. Please complete this form on 28 August 2025 by noon GMT to choose an entry for evaluation on the test set:
https://forms.gle/zKwhcG34tJi6Z1PR7

We will use the scores on the test set to choose the winning teams, and we will announce the winners at the closing ceremony at CinC. We will share the scores of the teams on the test set shortly after CinC.

CinC Preprints and Presentations:
Please remember that submitting a preprint and an updated final paper, registering for CinC and presenting your work, and following the other Challenge rules are important parts of the Challenge and therefore required for the official rankings and prize eligibility.

Please see this page for information about preparing your CinC proceedings papers, including instructions, templates, and a checklist:
https://physionetchallenges.org/2025/papers/

These templates and this checklist include important guidance for how to describe your approach and contributions to this year’s Challenge, so please follow the instructions carefully. In particular, please accurately describe your results as indicated in the template, and please cite the official description of the Challenge as given on the above page and in the template. These papers describe this year’s Challenge so that you can focus on describing your work; we would much rather you focus on your individual contributions than to repeat a description of the Challenge.

Every year, we need to contact a large number of teams to ask them to update their papers to follow these instructions, and teams that cannot ultimately follow the instructions will not appear in the final conference proceedings. In particular, you should include your scores on the training and validation data in your preprint and presentation. Since you will not receive scores on the test data before you submit your preprint, you must update your preprint after CinC to include your scores and rankings on the test data as well.

Please see these pages from the conference organizers for important information about preparing (and eventually submitting) your preprints and presentations:
https://cinc.org/instructions-for-preparing-and-submitting-full-papers/
https://physionetchallenges.org/2025/#rules

Please note that the Challenge has slightly earlier deadlines than the rest of the conference so that we have a chance to provide feedback.

CinC Registration:
Like last year, this year's conference allows for in-person and remote attendance, but oral presenters must present their work in person. Registration is now open, so please register for CinC if you haven’t done so already:
https://softconf.com/p/cinc2025/user/

Please contact the conference organizers directly for information about your registration, e.g., registration issues, visa, or fee issues. The Challenge organizers do not set the CinC deadlines and cannot extend them.

Final Words:
As always, please contact us with questions if you do not find your answers on the Challenge website or the discussion forum. We are looking forward to the last week of the official phase and can’t wait to see you next month.

Best,
The Challenge Organizers
