Dear Challengers,

As a quick reminder, the official phase of the 2022 PhysioNet Challenge ends on 15 August 2022 at 11:59pm GMT, which is a little more than three weeks away (as of today).

If you are participating or plan to participate in this year’s Challenge, then please submit your code as soon as possible. Due to a variety of predictable and unpredictable reasons, most teams do not submit working code on their first try. Due to the large number of submissions that we receive in the final days before the official phase deadline, there are few opportunities to debug and resubmit your code immediately before the deadline, and due to the conference deadlines and a need to be fair to all teams, there are no opportunities to debug and resubmit your code after the deadline, regardless of why the code failed. We want your approach to be part of the Challenge, so please submit your code early!

In the coming weeks, we will share a preprint about this year’s Challenge, templates for your 4-page CinC conference proceedings papers, and instructions for how to choose a final entry for evaluation on the test set.

As in previous years, we will announce the winners of this year’s Challenge at CinC 2022. We look forward to awarding prizes for the murmur detection task, the clinical outcome identification task, the best oral presentation, the best poster presentation, and best team name.

Best,
Matt
(On behalf of the Challenge team.)

Dear Organizers

Have you decided if we need to attend physically in order to collect prizes or will remote attendance be enough? On the web page it says the following:  Remote attendance may be allowed depending on the policies of the conference and the state of the pandemic.

Hi Bjørn,

Thanks for asking. If the conference permits remote attendance, then teams will be rankings and prize eligible if they attend either in-person or remotely to present their work (and fulfill the other required criteria). We've updated the website accordingly:
https://physionetchallenges.org/2022/#eligibility

CinC 2022 permits remote attendance, so the Challenge teams may attend CinC 2022 remotely to present their work.

Best,
Matt
