Dear Friends,
Dr. S. Sivakumar, senior scientific officer at IGCAR, Kalpakam, has agreed to be a resource person in the APT workshop series in theoretical physics. He will be the resource person for workshop 4 / series 1 on Differential Equations. He will also collabborate in the Classical Mechanics series and Quantum Mechanics series.
Dr. Sivakumar took his PhD in Quantum Optics from IIT-Madras under the guidance of Prof. V. Balakrishnan. He is active in research in quantum optics and quantum information theory. He is also an expert in reactor physics and currently the division head in-charge at the Reactor Physics Division at IGCAR. Learning about our self-financed venture, he has kindly consented to travel by rail to be part of this effort. On behalf of APT, we extend our warm welcome to Sivakumar sir. We also thank Satyanarayana sir who has been instrumental in bringing the APT workshop series to the notice of Sivakumar sir.
I have attached here a paper of Sivakumar sir on the fundamental role of complex numbers in Quantum Mechanics. The participants of workshop 1 may remember that Satyanarayana sir has mentioned about this paper (available in arXiv.org) during the tutorial sessions on the second day.
This time two young and brilliant teachers from Tamil Nadu will be with us as participants in the next workshop. They are former students of Satyanarayana sir. It is an honour for APT that our efforts are gaining attention beyond the boundaries of the state. It also brings added responsibility to us in making this series even more eventful by our active participation.
Regards,
Harikrishnan.
