Why LaTeX ?

Latex is used by many researchers to write papers, articles, books,
thesis and etc. One may ask why to use latex when one can easily
write in MS Word and utilities like that. However LaTex has its own
features and advantages.

I am attaching here a presentation given by my senior colleague in
PRL. The file (latex.pdf) is attached on Group's web page. (in FILE
section). Plese go through it at your convinience and let me know if
anything is not clear or confusing.

I hope it will be useful to understand why Latex is commanly used
among researchers. Learning latex is not a big task. It will take
less than a month and you will learn as you use it. If you are
interested to learn latex, let me know. I will post some articles and
links which will be quite helpful. I can also send you some example
files from which you can quickly learn it.

By the way, LaTeX is cmpletely free software. It is compatible with
Linux, Windows, Macintosh and DOS.
