1.     Update: Ventura City Council Single Payer Support Resolution on City Council Agenda 11/18/23. How can you all help pass our resolution?  – Pawson

 

2.     Report: staffing exhibitor table at Ventura County Medical Association Gala 11/15/23 – Bruns, Petroff, Pawson

 

3.     Update: Taking Our Show On The Road:

a.     Topic The Case Against the Privatization of Medicare – need to develop presentation title. Possibly “Medicare Privatization – Good or Bad” 

      i.     Scheduled VCMC Equity Conference Friday 2/2/24 0800-0900

      ii.     Scheduled CMH CME Conference – Tuesday 3/19/24 12:00-13:00

b.     Speakers- Pawson, Petroff, Bruns – Would anyone else like to be a presenter?

 

4.     Follow up: PNHP National’s Major Action of 2023 and 2024 -protecting Traditional Medicare and fighting the privatization of Medicare which pushes us further from universal health insurance.

b.     PNHP training sessions to prepare us for speaking with our Members of Congress during legislative visits in opposition to Medicare Advantage this coming January and February. 
Session 2: Thursday, January 11, at 8 PM Central (9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific) - this session will walk folks through how to create an effective agenda and facilitate a successful meeting with our Member of Congress.

a.     Meet with / write Senator Padilla and Senator Butler asking them NOT to sign a senate letter in support of Medicare Advantage

b.     Meet with Rep Carbajal and ask him to sign the 2024 Assembly letter demanding Medicare Advantage accountability, the end to ACO REACH AND to not sign any letter in support of Medicare Advantage

 

6.     Ventura County Medical Association- PNHP adhoc committee – Bruns
