Hello PfPVC,

Just received this from PNHP CA. A new federal bill assisting states in enacting single payer legislation is being introduced in Congress 5/13. The CA single payer bill AB 1400 was temporarily withdrawn fronfrom  committee over concerns of how the bill would be paid for ( never mind that  we are all already all paying for a much more expensive system that doesn’t cover everybody ) if the feds refused to grant CA a waiver to obtain control over its’ Medicare and Medicaid $. PNHP strongly supports this bill. 

Call your House Rep Congressman Carbajal or Congresswoman Brownley and ask them to be original cosponsors before 5/13. If you don’t call until after that date ask them to become a cosponsor . A call takes less than a minute .

Let’s show them that their physicians support this hill.

  Members!

Give your Congressional Representative the opportunity to be an original co-sponsor of the State-Based Universal Health Care (SBUHC) Act of 2021. The bill is being introduced May 13, so this is a good time to ask your rep to cosponsor!  This federal bill would allow states to use their Medicare and Medicaid funds for a statewide healthcare system. It also requires that the state system covers at least 95% of its residents. PNHP-CA supports this legislation. It also lists the groups supporting the legislation. 

SBUHC is being introduced by Ro Khanna of California (San Jose) in a few days and we are working to increase the number of California cosponsors. 

Call or email your Representative, and encourage your chapter members and contacts to do so as well. The message  from OPS has provided an attachment (below) that lists email addresses for health aides and legislation directors, too. Attached is a shortened form of the OPS letter without the supporting groups attached.
