Hi folks

The Phyre2 server has been down since Saturday night - we are investigating the problem, but at the moment I have no idea what the problem is.

Can I use this as an opportunity to ask people to let me know (via the Phyre2 e-mail, because I monitor that much more closely than either Google Groups or the platform formerly known as Twitter) if they can't access the service.  No-one got in touch to tell me until just now, so I spent the second half of the weekend not knowing that there was a problem!.

Many apologies - there is a hardware issue with the webserver and we need to get engineers on site to deal with it. Unlikely to be fixed before tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd July)

Hi folks

No news on when service will be resumed, I'm afraid.

Bad news I'm afraid. To be technical about it, the server is "dead". It will take a day or two for our IT services to migrate the IP address, hostname etc to a replacement machine, so in the meantime I can only offer my apologies.

People may have noticed that the Phyre2 website is up - this does not mean that any jobs submitted will run successfully, because we are still trying to rectify faults/address issues/etc that are occurring.

Until the notice on the Phyre2 front page does not indicate that there is an issue, I strongly recommend that people refrain from submitting jobs; waiting a day or two for a reliable result is probably better than getting an unreliable answer now!

The Phyre2 server appears to be running as per spec so it should be okay to run jobs.

Many thanks are due to our sys admin Suhail Islam who has been working tirelessly to get our new machine up and running.

Thanks also to you all for your patience. If you find any issues, please get in touch.
