Phyre2 unavailable 16th September until "later"

Hi folks

Our main server is encountering some problems - running at ~200% load (which is bad, very bad) so I've disabled submissions. There seem to be many hundreds of runaway processes which do not seem to be directly to do with user jobs.

I suspect that the way round this would to be re-boot the machine, but because it's Friday evening and our IT will not be fully staffed until Tuesday 20th, I am very reluctant to try that in case it doesn't come back up again.

Once the service is available again, I'll post on here.

"Later" seems to be here. There still seem to be problems, but the server load is down to normal levels so I'll open up access again.

Okay, spoke too soon. We seem to have had a disk crash, and no maintenance available until Tuesday 20th September.

No service until then...

Okay, our main user disk has encountered a problem and replacing it and restoring from the backup will take some time.. More news when available.
