Here are some Google Analytics reports that might be of interest regarding ToLWeb. The reporting period is one entire year, 2014.  Those peaks in the graph represent the weekly cycles.

Also, I totally overestimated the cost for maintenance.  I looked into the budget sheets, and it costs $1600 per year for maintenance.

Dear David,

interesting stats - especially the growing number of mobile users. Have you ever experimented with alternative stylesheets for those?

Also, I don't think we really went anywhere with the notion of Naturalis as a host during the telecon. I got the impression you were mildly enthusiastic - do you want me to ask the CIO how serious he was?

By the way, either way I would not advocate a move right now. I'm sure we can get some practical lessons from TreeBASE's move, so I hope the tolweb servers last at least another year.

Best wishes,

Rutger

Rutger,

Development of the code of ToLWeb stopped before there was such a thing as a mobile user - it is all pre-iPhone 2007 code.  So, no, we have not done anything with stylesheets. It is crying out for a mobile-friendly version.

It surprises me that the site works as well as it does considering how old the code is.

Re. Naturalis and ToLWeb:  Let's wait on that.  I am enthused about the possibilities, but I agree, it makes sense to see how the TreeBASE move goes first.

I agree about holding off on TolWeb transfer until we see how the TreeBASE move goes.

Rutger - can you ask about moving the he...@treebase.org address to their JIRA instance? I will investigate exporting the existing queues from the NESCent RT instance.

I guess the move of he...@treebase.org would be something that requires fiddling on TreeBASE's end, right? Some sort of forwarding, presumably. In any case, I'll ask what else needs to happen on Naturalis's end.

Have you confirmed that the JIRA instance that's the target has the email gateway extension installed and enabled? Most instances I've seen do not.
