Hi all,

some of you are probably aware of this project of Heather Piwowar's,
but for those who aren't, here are some initial results from her
"Tracking 1000 datasets from public repositories into the published
literature" project. One of the 10 repositories being sampled, and one
of the 3 initial ones, is TreeBASE.

Heather has had a summer intern sponsored by DataONE, and some of the
results from that are going to be presented in a poster at ASIST 2011.
Abstract is here:

H. Piwowar, JD Carlson, and TJ Vision. Beginning to track 1000
datasets from public repositories into the published literature.
Poster at ASIST 2011.

It would be interesting whether the reuse rates for TreeBASE are
statistically significant lower than for other repositories.

The student intern also wrote a blog if you're interested:
https://notebooks.dataone.org/tracking1000datasets/

The conference itself BTW is just a week before TDWG, in New Orleans.
Is anyone on this forum intending to attend by any chance?
